Kaya Mawa Lodge

Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. This remote island is home to a very small community, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi. The location is perfect for a holiday of total relaxation, and its remote location makes it ideal for romantics. Spend your days swimming at the beach or in the swimming pool.

You can also choose from a range of outdoor activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing at the full water sports centre, or head out on a mountain bike on one of the local trails. Visits to local communities can be arranged, giving you the opportunity to experience African culture and the various community projects Kaya Mawa supports. Guided village and cathedral tours are also available.

Built entirely by hand in partnership with the local community, Kaya Mawa consists of 10 stone and teak cottages tucked away on a granite headland. There are 4 standard options to choose from, located at the bottom of a rocky knoll, with direct lake access and private decks. Each room though is unique, and has a different layout from the other. Going to the bathrooms is a bit different at Kaya Mawa as they are outside and/or open planned to their respective rooms.

For honeymooners there is a private island with its own house accessed by boat or a wooden walkway. Every unit features a sunken stone bathtub, private terrace, and rim flow pool.

Enjoy a range of fresh juices and drinks throughout the day overlooking the lake as you relax on the large main deck. For even more serenity, arrange a spa treatment - would could be more rejuvenating than a massage after a yoga lesson?

In true island style, dine on full breakfasts and lunches which include fruits and salads made from fresh local ingredients.

Guests can enjoy private dinners in a variety of idyllic locations, including the beach, deck, or under the gazebo
