Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you will meet your guide. After greetings, we will start driving to Senga Bay – Salima for your boat transfer to Nankoma Island. Your accommodation will be at the Blue Zebra Island Lodge in their luxury safari tents.

Day 3-6: Hiking Mulanje, Mulanje Mountains

Early morning breakfast; prepare to have a boat transfer to Senga Bay, upon arrival in Senga Bay you will be met by your Malawian Style guide and the journey to Mulanje begins where you will be staying at Lujeri Lodge.

Your planned hike here is a slow but challenging 5 hours to walk with several stunning waterfalls and rock pools to enjoy along the way.

Day 6-8: Zomba Forest Lodge, Zomba Plateau

Enjoy your last morning at the Lujeri Lodge. After breakfast, we will depart and head towards Zomba Plateau. The estimated time of arrival in Zomba is around lunchtime and we will drive straight to the Zomba Forest Lodge.

This is an inviting, charming lodge with 4 rooms (2 twins and 2 doubles, all en-suite) boasting a colorful and lush garden to explore; a real treat to walk around and bird watching.

Day 8-10: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park

From the mountain, it is now time to drive to Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park.

Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced Shiree), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles, and the amazing birdlife that call the Liwonde National Park, home. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed boma. Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Guided walking safaris and bike rides are also incredibly popular.

Day 10-12: Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear

After breakfast, get ready now to drive to Cape Maclear to the Kayak Africa reception offices. At 10:30 am your boat transfer will depart for the stunning Mumbo Island, which is approximately 45 minutes.

Mumbo Island is a tropical island on the expansive waters of Lake Malawi. With amazing underwater boulders, around 500 species of colorful cichlid fishes, and placid, clear water, the national park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkeling and scuba diving in the world.
