Package Itinerary

Day 1 – 4: Robin’s House, South Luangwa

You will fly into Mfuwe Airport where your guide will be waiting for you to transfer you to Robin’s House in South Luangwa National Park. Robin’s House is a small, private and exclusive house on the banks of the Luangwa River, ideal for young families or friends seeking a more indulgent type of safari. This two-bedroom house with main living area provides a shady and cool retreat from the African midday heat and if that is not enough there is a stunning plunge pool to soak in whilst looking over the Luangwa River.

Day 4 – 6: Luwi Bush Camp, South Luangwa

We will stay in South Luangwa but heading to one of the bush camps, for an even more rustic safari experience. Luwi Bush Camp is located in the heart of the national park and close to a lagoon where hippos and crocodiles find their place. The rooms are simple yet extremely comfortable and are built each season using natural materials. Because of its remote location with no other camps nearby, it is the perfect place to do walking safaris and see the animals that are scarcely found in other parts of the national park.

Day 6 – 9: Huntingdon House, Satemwa Tea Estates

After your experience in Zambia’s South Luangwa, you will proceed to Malawi’s tea growing district of Thyolo. In Thyolo you will be staying at Huntingdon House located in the stunning Tea Estate region for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country. Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate.

There are several activities such as hiking and biking there are also lighter activities that can be arranged such as scenic walks, tea tasting and visits to the pools (dziwe la nkhalamba).

Day 9 – 12: Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde National Park

From Huntingdon in Thyolo, you will head to Liwonde National Park and stay at Mvuu Lodge. The lodge nestles discreetly in a quiet lagoon just off the shire river with the main lounge area set above the water to make the most of the exceptional birdlife and resident hippos. Liwonde provides an excellent diversity of animals including lion, cheetah, black rhino, elephant, sable antelope, eland, zebra, impala and waterbuck. Activities at Mvuu Lodge revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular, and not forgetting rhino tracking!

Day 12 – 16: Kaya Mawa Lodge, Likoma Island

After breakfast you will be transferred to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight to Likoma Island where you will be accommodated at Kaya Mawa for the last four nights on your tour. Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone and thatched cottages, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The lodge was entirely built by hand, in partnership with the local community.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe

All good things must come to an end and today after breakfast you will fly straight from Kaya Mawa to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight connection back home.
