Package Itinerary

Day 1-3: Blue Zebra Island Lodge – luxury safari tents – Nankoma Island – Salima

Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival you will be transferred to the lake by your guide.

The lodge offers 8 exclusive tented en-suite chalets each overlooking the lake and its crystal-clear waters. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment and guests are surrounded by nature and luxury. Guests are free to chill at the infinity pool, kayak around the islands or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the full board package. The lodge also offers free use of snorkelling equipment to view the unique colourful fish that give the lodge its name and inhabit every inch of the coastline.

Day 3-6: Hiking Mulanje, Mt. Mulanje

After relaxing at Blue Zebra, it is time to stay in Mt. Mulanje.

The hike is slow but challenging. A 5-hour walk with several stunning waterfalls and rock pools along the way. While hiking Mount Mulanje you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings and stunning views with time to swim in waterfalls and rock pools en-route.

Day 6-8: Sunbird Kuchawe Hotel, Zomba Plateau

Today you will leave the Mulanje district and head to the beautiful Zomba Plateau will begin. Your accommodation will be at the Sunbird Ku Chawe Hotel. Rising 1800 meter, Zomba is a beautiful location to go biking, horse riding or just relaxing and enjoying pleasant walks through the forest, beside streams or across open grassland. Due to the higher altitude, the plateau often feels pleasantly cool compared to other parts of the country. At Zomba Plateau, you will also have the chance to see many different birds.

Day 8-10: Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde National Park

From the stunning Plateau to your next destination; the wonderful Mvuu Lodge in the Liwonde National Park.

With a profusion of hippos, or ‘mvuu’ in the local language, crocodiles and amazing birdlife you can enjoy your time sitting watching the wildlife by the river, as well as joining in any of the many activities.
Activities offered include game viewing, river cruises, guided walking safaris, bird watching, star gazing and more.

The luxury safari tents overlook the lagoon giving you a constant stream of wildlife activity, the food is exceptional and the package includes sunset river cruises and early morning/afternoon game drives.

Day 10-12: Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear – Lake Malawi

After breakfast, it is now time to drive to your next piece of paradise on Lake Malawi. Arriving at Cape Maclear you will drive straight to the Kayak Africa reception in time for your boat transfer at 10:30 am, from there you will either kayak out or boat ride to the stunning Mumbo Island a 45 minutes trip. Mumbo Island is a pristine tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colorful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the national park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkelling and scuba diving in the world.

Day 12: Departure Lilongwe

All good things must come to an end and today after breakfast at Mumbo, your guide will drive you straight from Cape Maclear to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight home.
